During family gatherings like Thanksgiving and Christmas, I witnessed firsthand how thoughtful the staff were in providing traditional meals complete with turkey dinners and a variety of pies, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of home. The layout of Gardens Care also deserves attention. The establishment comprises two distinct living environments—a more mobile assisted living section and a memory care unit designed for residents experiencing Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. This careful categorization ensures that each resident receives personalized care suited to their level of mobility and cognitive abilities. For those in memory care, security is paramount; doors are locked to protect wandering residents from potentially unsafe situations outside. However, this does not compromise their ability to access physical exercise within the facility itself as it features a circular pathway that allows them to walk loops safely indoors. Although my father's journey led him from memory care to assisted living as his needs changed over time, he received consistent attention throughout both phases. The medical support provided by staff was exemplary; they diligently followed physicians' directions regarding medication administration—such as when he required eye drops—which speaks volumes about their competence. It’s evident that employee turnover exists in this field given its challenging nature; however, during our time there we have yet to encounter any neglect or misconduct among caregivers. In keeping with their commitment to health and wellness, Gardens Care consistently offers nutritious meals complemented by snacks between meals—such as fruit bowls or ice cream sandwiches—to ensure residents are well-fed throughout the day. Residents can even indulge in second or third servings without hesitation if they feel inclined; this approach reflects an understanding of dietary needs while simultaneously fostering an enjoyable dining experience. Despite some concerns about management's impact on caregivers' performance due to high turnover rates—which likely reflects broader industry trends—I am continually impressed by how genuinely workers seem to care for each resident's well-being. Their compassion reminds me that these individuals often serve essential roles akin to family members during difficult transitions into senior living facilities like Coyote Creek.
